Make a stained glass picture

Things to make and do - art: Stained glass

You will need:

Black paper/card
Coloured tissue papers/cellophane/sweet wrappers
PVA glue
String/thread/ribbon

What to do

1. Cut a number of holes in a piece of black paper/card. The easiest way we’ve found is to fold the paper in half, then fold in half again. With a plate, draw a quarter circle on the folded paper. Cut along the drawn line. Then with the paper still folded, cut a few pieces out – try triangle and semi-circle shapes. Then when you open the paper out, you’ll have a ‘snow-flake’ shape. Hopefully the pictures below will show what we mean!

2. Spread glue onto the back of the window panes.

3. Stick the tissue papers/cellophane or sweet papers to the glue where the glass would go in a window.

4. Make a small hole in the top of the picture using a hole-punch or a sharp pencil. Thread through a length of string/thread/ribbon and knot the ends together to make a loop. Hang up your stained glass picture.
